Oram Sans (2024)
Typography & Publication Design

As part of my project ‘Oramics: Sine & Sound’ the creation of a curated typeface, above are simplified experiments of the original concept. The most effective way was to link and emphasise the line through a custom typeface using the similar shapes from Oram’s work. These lines were designed with the use of a multifaceted grid, while the curved line forms of the letter-forms linked back to the wave patterns seen throughout the drawings and diagram taken from Daphne Oram’s workshop.

Oramics: Sine & Sound (2024)
Type & Publication Design

Oramics: Sine & Sound is a response to brief number one of the 2024 ISTD annual competition. The publication explores the art form of oramics created by Daphne Oram in 1962 and how this invention translated in the evolution of electronic music. The names of the publication comes from the overarching theme of oramics, where Oram drew line onto 35mm film which was then turned into sound. Looking to link both aspects of the drawn waveforms and how they have been translated into sound and further more electronic music.

Motion Glitch (2025)
Typography & Motion Design

Experimenting with coded expressions in after effects to create glitch patterns that look to reflect selected pieces of music and sound. Combining this with type as further experimentation, turning letterforms into visualisations of noise. Going onto to play around with glitch type also as part of this interpretation of sound.

Sick Pay Band (2024)
Logo & Cover Design

Work for Glasgow based band Sick Pay, a custom logo was created for them to use throughout a range of deliverables. Along with the cover from their new EP ‘Get Well Soon’ and related promotional materials. All design elements using the same type of grunge effect in line with their music and sound.

V&A Dundee (2024)
Workshop Facilitation & Branding

Tasked with the creation and development of a new logo for the Young People’s Collective (YPC) through the V&A in Dundee. This included tailoring branding based workshops for a group of varied ages. These workshops gave those involved insight into the design process while being part of it.

Typographic WIPs (2024/25)
Typography

Typographic WIPs from my oramics project, looking to create abstract forms which reflected the sound and energy heard through Daphne Oram’s oramics. These other variations resulting in fuller formed typefaces like Oram Sans as seen above. Exploration of these letterforms are to be experimented with to create a foundry of Oram typefaces.

Creative Expressions (2023)
Publication Design & Workshop Facilitation

A report on existing art therapy services and explore the therapeutic value of art for individuals dealing with stress and anxiety for my dissertation. As part of this art therapy workshops were curated and conducted to gather primary research into the benefits of art-making in this setting. The workshop took place in the space of two hours, where participants will engage in collage-based activities. Workshops that use painting or drawing as the primary tool for creation may demand more from the participants. In contrast, a medium like collage is far more accessible.

The Beast (2024)
Typography, Animation & Event Curation

As a submission to D&AD’s Google brief. Activism is an effective way to bring about social or political change, in this case the aim is to promote climate activism. In order to do this in the most effective way an event was organised consisting of performances and local guest speakers. The poem ‘the beast’ by Scottish poet, Iain Banks was chosen to keep the project local. The use of the ‘the beast’ in this case was to act as a metaphor for climate change with the focus on disruption, displaying this through overlapping, interconnected pieces of typography in varied mediums.

Deja Vu Zine (2023-Current)

Jutebox Band (2022-25)
Typography & Branding

Work for Dundee band Jutebox, ranging from custom type for their branding to album cover and poster design with these gig posters becoming a key part of their identity and later used on covers. Merch was also designed during my time working with them, creating an embroidered tee that in turn influenced my decision to start thinking about designing textiles and garments.

Typographic Band Posters (2023)
Typography & Poster Design

Range of typographic posters for bands and events, focusing on the interaction of type as the central graphic. Taking inspiration from 70s type in line with the sound of the bands and events.

Denara Band (2022-Current)
Branding & Cover Design

Work for another Dundee band Denara, a custom logo type was created for them to use throughout a range of deliverables. The logo type looks to capture the groups sound and DIY influence, this can be seen in their cover art and posters. An aspect that will remain present as I continue to work with them.
